Committee Descriptions

SOAR Committee Descriptions

Advocacy & Legislative Committee:   Meets 4-6X Per Year – Committee Size: 6-10

Studies legislative issues at the local, state, and federal levels that affect property owners.  Advocates for local, state, and federal policy initiatives that strengthen the ability of Americans to own, buy and sell real estate.

Awards & Scholarship Committee:   Meets quarterly – Committee Size: 8-10

Reviews applications for and chooses REALTOR® and Rookie of the Year Award recipients, Gloria Chase Scholarship recipients, and High School Scholarship Award recipients. Committee reviews applications and plans for the next award offering, with e-mail correspondence between meetings.

Elite Club Committee:  Meets 4-8X – Committee Size:  12-15

The Elite Club is the outstanding awards program of SOAR. This committee selects a venue for the program, chooses a menu, communicates with the production company, creates a program and script for the event, and may help with the actual ceremony the night of the event. The function of the committee shall be to oversee the administration and execution of the Elite Club awards banquet. This event is large and needs numerous members, who are committed to producing a high-quality event. Ideal for people who enjoy event planning. E-mail communication throughout the planning period.

Ethics & Professionalism Forum:  4-6X Per Year – Committee Size:  12-14

Promotes professionalism through social media and newsletter articles.  Works with Professional Development Committee to educate our members on conduct becoming a REALTOR® and best practices for industry professionals.  (Administration & enforcement for Code of Ethics & Professional Standards are handled by Ohio REALTORS®)

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Committee:    Meets quarterly – Committee Size:  4-6

Coordinates monthly social media and Newsletter material to SOAR to increase diversity within the real estate profession.  Works with the Professional Development Comittee to identify diversity and fair housing educational needs and goals, as well as addresses changes in real estate business practice to reflect growing cultural diversity.

Holiday Excursions:    Meets 6-8X Per Year – Committee Size:  8-12

This committee plans, organizes, seeks sponsorship for, and executes the “Holiday at the Movies” Event, as well as 1-2 other Holiday Themed Events of their choice per year.

Membership Committee:    Meets Monthly – Committee Size:  6-8

This committee helps stay in touch with both the agent and affiliate membership.  Comes up with ideas to show value to both agent and affiliate members and provides ways to communicate these ideas to the membership. This committee’s main task is to increase membership recruitment and promote retention. May review current Affiliates and reach out to confirm & promote their active association status. May plan & execute Affiliate Membership Drive.

Professional Development Committee:    Meets Monthly – Committee Size: 4-6

Promotes and prepares continuing education classes for the SOAR membership. The goal for this committee is to have 12-18 different class offerings per year. This committee stays informed on educational needs for agents. Committee arranges course offerings and solidifies sponsors.

REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC):  Meets 6-8X Per Year – Committee Size:  8-10

The RPAC Committee looks for ways to help members understand the importance of contributing to legislators who support the real estate industry and supporting issues that protect the rights of both our clients and REALTORS®.   The most tangible function of the RPAC Committee is the planning & executing fun & unique RPAC Fundraising events for our association.

Social/Outreach Committee:  Meets Monthly – Committee Size:  12-14

Plans and secures sponsorship for Social/Networking events, Appreciation, and Community Outreach events for the SOAR Membership to be held quarterly.

Trade Fair Committee:   Meets 6-8X Per Year – Committee Size:  12-15

Plans and organizes the Annual SOAR Trade Show to afford the affiliate members the opportunity to meet and establish a working relationship with the REALTOR® members of the Association. This committee always has a lot of fun and looks for new ways to give our Affiliate Members as much face time with our REALTOR® Member as possible. The trade fair has a new theme each year that the affiliates and members get excited about by dressing up and decorating their booths in the style of the theme. There are lots of prizes for members at this event.

Young Professionals Network Committee:  Meets 6-8X Per Year – Committee Size:  8-12

The Young Professionals Network (YPN) helps young real estate practitioners become more business savvy by hosting regular networking events, communicating with other YPN members, and sharing tips and tricks. It helps newer members learn tools to be leaders in the industry, in the local, state, and national associations, and offers a sounding board for industry-related issues. Plans and holds YPN Networking events quarterly.
